YELLOWSTONE matte/glossy — Glaze Powder

from €15.00
weight:

Yellowstone is a responsive glaze that shifts beautifully across different clay bodies, developing deep mustard-yellow tones on stoneware and brighter, more vibrant yellows on porcelain. It pools richly in carvings and textured surfaces, adding depth and variation.

The crackle pattern is most visible on porcelain and light grey stoneware. On dark grey stoneware, particularly anthracite, the glaze takes on a smoother, buttery appearance in thicker areas, with little to no visible crackle. A versatile glaze with wonderfully varied results depending on the clay body and application thickness.

Recommended Firing Range

1240–1280°C (≈2264–2336°F)
Cone 7–9 equivalent

Lead-free • Cadmium-free
Suitable for high-fired stoneware and porcelain.

Sold in Powder Form Only

Mixing Guidelines

  1. Begin with a 1:1 water-to-powder ratio.

  2. Sieve thoroughly.

  3. Adjust with a small amount of extra water until the glaze reaches your preferred consistency.

IMPORTANT:
You MUST mix the entire dry bag at once.
Because this glaze is hand-blended, partial mixing can cause uneven ingredient distribution and inconsistent firing results.

Yield reference:
500 g (≈ 1.1 lb) → approx. 800 ml (≈ 27 fl oz) liquid glaze.

Application Notes

• Apply an even, consistent coat by dipping, brushing, pouring, or spraying.
• Crackle patterns vary with thickness, cooling speed, and clay body.
• For functional ware, be mindful that crackle surfaces do craze intentionally.
